Yolk Recruitment
Yolk Recruitment is supporting a leading manufacturing business in Pontypool with the recruitment of a Trainee Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer.
This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified, apprentice-trained engineer who is looking to build a long-term career in manufacturing maintenance. - Support reactive maintenance and breakdown response as your technical competence develops

- Develop your knowledge of mechanical systems, pneumatics, conveyors, motors, drives and production equipment
- Help maintain the reliability of key site services, including electrical systems and compressed air
- Complete maintenance documentation, service reports and CMMS updates accurately
- Support continuous-improvement activity and contribute ideas to improve equipment reliability, performance and safety
- Work closely with production teams, engineering colleagues and external contractors to ensure safe and efficient operation of the plant
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Health & Safety, environmental legislation and company procedures
This role would suit a practical, enthusiastic and ambitious engineer who has recently completed their apprenticeship or is looking for their first permanent maintenance engineering role.
Essential requirements:
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering as a minimum, or an equivalent recognised Level 3 electrical engineering qualification
- Completed electrical engineering apprenticeship, electrical maintenance apprenticeship or dual-skilled/multiskilled apprenticeship with a strong electrical bias
- A genuine ambition to develop into a fully multiskilled maintenance engineer
- Practical, hands-on electrical experience gained through an apprenticeship, placement or industrial engineering environment
- A good understanding of electrical maintenance principles, electrical safety and safe isolation procedures
- A willingness to develop mechanical maintenance skills through structured training, mentoring and shadowing
- A positive, reliable and proactive approach to work
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of Health & Safety
- Salary of circa £35,000
- A structured training and development pathway into a multiskilled maintenance engineering position
- Direct mentoring and shadowing from experienced site engineers
- Company sponsorship towards an HNC or HND qualification, subject to successful completion of probation and business requirements
- The opportunity to develop knowledge of mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, drives and production equipment
