Estimator / Quantity Surveyor – Residential Maintenance

Location: Borehamwood, Hertfordshire
Salary: £35,000–£40,000 depending on experience

Our client is an established property maintenance contractor based in Borehamwood. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Estimator or Quantity Surveyor to price maintenance and remedial works on residential new-build properties.

The role will involve travelling to housing developments and individual properties, assessing required maintenance works and preparing accurate quotations to ensure the contractor meets its warranty and aftercare commitments.

This position would suit someone with previous experience pricing residential maintenance, defects, remedial works, refurbishment or planned maintenance projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Visiting residential developments and occupied properties to assess maintenance requirements
  • Reviewing reported defects, maintenance issues and warranty claims
  • Measuring and pricing remedial and maintenance works
  • Preparing detailed quotations, estimates and cost breakdowns
  • Producing scopes of work for subcontractors and internal delivery teams
  • Obtaining and comparing supplier and subcontractor quotations
  • Identifying the labour, materials and resources required to complete each project
  • Liaising with site teams, residents, clients, subcontractors and suppliers
  • Monitoring costs and ensuring works remain commercially viable
  • Pricing variations and additional works
  • Maintaining accurate records of quotations, costs and completed works
  • Supporting the business in meeting its new-build warranty and aftercare commitments

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience working as an Estimator, Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Assistant
  • Experience pricing maintenance or remedial works on residential new-build properties
  • A good understanding of construction defects, repairs and housing maintenance
  • Experience preparing quotations, estimates and scopes of work
  • Strong numerical and commercial skills
  • Good communication and organisation skills
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple quotations
  • Confident using Microsoft Excel and standard estimating software
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential
  • Willingness to travel regularly to residential sites and properties
