Are you a passionate rower looking to develop your coaching skills within a successful school rowing programme?

Claires Court is seeking a Trainee Rowing Coach / Gap Rowing Assistant to join our existing team from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed rower who is looking to gain valuable coaching experience while continuing to develop their own rowing ability.

You will support the coaching of pupils from our senior girls’ and boys’ rowing squads, working alongside experienced coaches to help students learn, progress and achieve their potential. Sessions will primarily take place during the afternoons, making this an ideal role for an aspiring coach or competitive rower looking to develop their career.

About the Role

As a Trainee Rowing Coach, you will:

  • Support the coaching of rowing sessions, primarily working with our Year 9 and Year 10 development groups
  • Assist with the preparation, organisation and maintenance of rowing equipment
  • Help ensure boats, facilities and equipment are kept clean, safe and secure
  • Support the organisation of rowing regattas and competitions throughout the year
  • Assist with the care and maintenance of rowing boats alongside the equipment manager
  • Develop your own coaching skills and take on increasing responsibility throughout the year
  • Complete risk assessments where required and follow health and safety procedures
  • Promote the welfare, safety and development of all pupils in your care

  • Able to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
  • Flexible, with the ability to support occasional evening and weekend activities
  • Keen to contribute positively to the wider rowing department and school community
