Location: Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire
Salary: Circa £28,000 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week – rotating shifts within 06:00–18:00
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Overtime: Additional/weekend overtime paid
We're looking for a proactive and organised Transport Administrator to join a busy transport operation in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with transport or logistics experience who wants to develop their career within a supportive, family-run business.
Working closely with the Transport Planners and wider operations team, you'll help keep a busy HGV operation running smoothly throughout the day.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting the day-to-day running of the transport operation
- Acting as a key point of contact for drivers
- Briefing and debriefing drivers
- Monitoring vehicle movements and delivery progress
- Communicating with customers regarding collections and deliveries
- Liaising with warehouses, drivers, planners and subcontractors
- Supporting planners with vehicle and driver scheduling
- Updating transport systems with accurate operational information
- Maintaining transport documentation and records
What We're Looking For
Previous transport experience would be advantageous, but we're equally interested in someone with the right attitude and ability to learn.
You'll need:
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organisational ability
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- The ability to prioritise a busy workload
- Confidence speaking with drivers and customers
- A proactive approach to problem solving
- The ability to remain calm under pressure
- A positive and reliable attitude
Experience within transport, logistics, general haulage, distribution, warehousing or fleet operations would be beneficial.
Experience using Transport Management Systems would also be advantageous.
Hours & Benefits
- Circa £28,000 per annum
- 40-hour working week
- Monday–Friday rotating early and late shifts within 06:00–18:00
- Paid overtime for additional/weekend hours
