Transport Planner – 3rd Party Logistics

Location: 
Salary: £40,000 + Pension
Working hours 7.00am - 5pm Monday to Friday 

Are you an experienced Transport Planner with a strong background in 3rd party logistics planning, route optimisation and transport compliance? We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established business looking for a proactive and organised planner to coordinate the day-to-day transport operation and maximise external fleet efficiency.

Role

As Transport Planner, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating the daily movement of external and 3PL (third party logistics) transport 

Working closely with external contractors, you'll ensure vehicles are booked, collections take place on time and all transport activities run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities
•    Plan and book external haulage into the calendar 
•    Follow up on collections and deliveries to ensure they happen on time.
•    Maintain accurate transport records and update transport management systems.
•    Communicate with customers regarding delivery schedules and resolve transport queries.

Essential Requirements
•    Previous experience planning or booking HGV transport operations.
•    Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
•    Ability to work in a fast-paced transport environment and respond to changing priorities.
•    Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office.

You'll have experience in one or more of the following roles:
Transport Planner, Senior Transport Planner, Logistics Planner, Traffic Planner, Transport Coordinator, Fleet Planner, Routing Planner, Distribution Planner, Transport Operations Coordinator

Experience within any of the following sectors would be advantageous:
Logistics, Distribution, 3rd Party Logistics, External Haulage, General Haulage, Waste Management, Construction, Manufacturing, Utilities, Civil Engineering, Heavy Industry, FMCG, Retail Distribution
