Transport Planner

We are currently recruiting for a Tranport Planner for a 3 month period (potentially longer) based in the Swindon area.

About the Transport Planner role:

• Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5pm (40 hours paid). 
• Salary is £30K pro rata 
• Temporary role - minimum 3 month period 
• Based in Swindon (SN3)
• Immediate start 

Duties & responsibilities for the Transport Planner role:

• Plan, optimise & communicate local and nationwide delivery routes for vehicles. 
• Effectively plan loads to vehicles ensuring on-time deliveries. 
• Ensure all routes are legally compliant in line with driver's hours legislation, working time directive and vehicle weight restrictions
• Ensure all operational goals are met whilst maintaining focus on customer requirements
• Communicate efficiently and effectively with both team members and other departments 

Skills / Experience required for the Transport Planner role: 

• Strong planning and organisational skills and the ability to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously 
• Strong attention to detail 
• A good goegraphical knowledge is essential
• Excellent communication skilss 
• Previous experience of working in a planning or similar role is required 
• A good understanding of driver's hours would be beneficial
• Good IT knowledge to include Microsoft Excel, Word etc
