Route Planner | Transport Planner | Logistics Planner

Matthew James Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Route Planner to join a busy and fast-paced transport operation based in Slough.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous transport planning experience who enjoys working in a high-volume distribution environment and is looking to join a stable business offering excellent benefits and long-term career progression.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and optimise daily delivery routes for a fleet of drivers.
• Maximise vehicle utilisation and delivery efficiency.
• Ensure all routes comply with Driver Hours Regulations and the Working Time Directive.
• Schedule deliveries to meet customer service requirements and agreed delivery windows.
• React quickly to operational changes, adjusting routes where required.
• Work closely with Transport Managers and drivers to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Identify opportunities to improve planning efficiency and reduce transport costs.
• Maintain high levels of customer service while ensuring operational compliance.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience as a Route Planner, Transport Planner or Logistics Planner.
• Strong knowledge of Driver Hours Regulations and the Working Time Directive.
• Experience working within a busy transport or distribution environment.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the transport operation.
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workloads effectively.
• Experience using transport planning software would be advantageous.
