Transport Planner – Container Transport

Location: Stanford-Le-Hope, Essex
Salary: £35,000 - £37,875 per annum
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 45 hours per week

About the Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Transport Planner to join a leading intermodal freight, container transport and logistics business based in Stanford-Le-Hope.

This role will focus on the planning and coordination of container transport movements, ensuring vehicles are utilised effectively and customer requirements are met across the UK.

The successful candidate will work closely with planners, transport teams, subcontractors and other UK depots to deliver an efficient and cost-effective container haulage operation.

Transport Planner – Responsibilities

• Produce daily transport plans based on customer orders and operational requirements
• Plan and coordinate container vehicle movements and routes
• Maximise vehicle utilisation and transport efficiency
• Resource and coordinate subcontractor hauliers
• Negotiate and manage subcontractor rates
• Monitor transport requirements and adjust plans where necessary
• Attend daily planning and transport review meetings
• Maintain excellent customer service and delivery performance
• Work closely with other UK depots and transport planning teams
• Support the wider container haulage and intermodal freight operation
• Participate in a weekend on-call rota, providing minimal remote support from home when required

Transport Planner – Requirements

• Minimum 3 years' experience in Transport Planning within container transport/haulage, intermodal freight, freight forwarding or logistics
• Experience coordinating subcontractors 
• Experience using TOPS
• Flexibility to participate in a weekend on-call rota when required
