Contract: Initial 3-month contract with potential extension and opportunity to transition into a permanent position

Exciting Opportunity for a Transport Projects & Programmes Manager in the East Midlands


An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transport Projects & Programmes Manager to join a busy highways and transport delivery environment. You will lead the delivery of a significant portfolio of transport schemes, including major infrastructure projects, capital programmes and maintenance initiatives, working across projects at different stages of development, procurement and delivery.


The main duties of the Transport Projects & Programmes Manager include:


·Leading the delivery of multiple transport and highways programmes from development through to successful completion.
·Managing major infrastructure and capital schemes, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
·Coordinating project managers, designers, consultants, contractors and key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
·Monitoring programme performance, budgets, risks, quality and delivery milestones.
·Providing regular progress updates, reports and recommendations to senior management.
·Supporting effective governance, procurement and commissioning processes.
·Working closely with internal teams, external organisations, stakeholders and elected representatives.
·Ensuring programmes align with strategic transport objectives, funding requirements and wider service priorities.


The Transport Projects & Programmes Manager will have key experience in:


·Significant experience managing and delivering highways, transport or infrastructure programmes.
·Strong programme and project management experience within a complex public sector or local authority environment.
·Experience managing multiple projects at different stages of design, procurement and construction.
·Managing significant budgets, risks, resources and programme reporting requirements.
·Leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating consultants, contractors and technical specialists.
·Understanding of local authority governance processes, procurement routes and stakeholder management.
·Experience working with senior managers, elected members and external delivery partners.
·Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
·Previous Local Authority highways or transport experience would be highly advantageous.
