Transport Supervisor - Wakefield - c.£30,000 (Monday - Friday, 10:00 - 19:00)

The Role

This Transport Supervisor opportunity is with a growing SME business based in Wakefield, operating a busy transport function where customer service, flexibility and operational efficiency are key to success.

The business is looking for a hands-on Transport Supervisor to support the day-to-day running of the transport operation, ensuring vehicles are dispatched on time, drivers are supported and customer expectations are consistently met. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a close-knit team where they can make a genuine impact on the operation.

Working closely with the wider Logistics distribution and supply chain function, you'll play a key role in maintaining service levels, improving operational performance and supporting the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervising the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring deliveries are completed safely and on time
• Supporting transport planning and responding to live operational challenges throughout the day
• Managing driver briefings, debriefs and day-to-day operational queries
• Monitoring vehicle utilisation and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency
• Ensuring compliance with drivers' hours, Working Time Directive and transport legislation
• Working closely with warehouse and wider Logistics distribution and supply chain teams to ensure smooth operational flow
• Monitoring transport KPIs and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
• Building strong relationships with drivers, customers and internal stakeholders to maintain exceptional service levels

Key Experience

• Previous experience operating as a Transport Supervisor, Senior Transport Planner or Transport Team Leader within a transport environment
• Strong understanding of transport operations, route planning and compliance requirements
• Experience leading or supporting transport teams within a fast-paced operation
• Excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise changing workloads
• Experience working within a Logistics distribution and supply chain environment
• Strong IT skills with experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS)
• A proactive, hands-on approach with a passion for delivering excellent customer service and operational performance
