About the Role
Transport company is seeking an experienced Transport Supervisor to join our busy team in Coalville. Based on a 24/7 customer site, this role focuses on general haulage, working solely with Class 1 vehicles predominantly within the packaging industry.
You will ensure all work is distributed in compliance with transport legislation, health and safety standards, and customer service requirements. Your main goal is to ensure products are delivered on time and in full using the most cost-effective methods, maximizing the utilization of drivers in line with current driver hours and Working Time Directive (WTD) regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan Execution: Execute the operational plan provided by the onsite planning team.
- Compliance & Safety: Maintain strict health and safety awareness, controlling transport-related compliance.
- Driver Management: Conduct driver pre-briefs and de-briefs, allocate drivers/sub-contractors, and complete return-to-work interviews or investigations as required.
- Resource Sourcing: Source local agency drivers through our Preferred Supplier List (PSL) and secure local sub-contractors when needed.
- Daily Administration: Manage POD control, ensure accurate trailer checks are completed and sent, and monitor vehicle earning awareness.
- Communication: Utilize multiple transport systems simultaneously and report operational issues to stakeholders in real time.
- Flexibility: Work overtime when required to cover team holidays and sickness.
Requirements
- Right to Work: Valid proof of 'Right to Work' in the UK is required (Visa sponsorship is not provided).
- Experience: Proven experience working in a fast-paced transport office.
- Legal Knowledge: Strong understanding of Drivers’ Hours, Tachograph regulations, and WTD legislation.
- Technical Skills: Highly IT literate with the ability to multitask across multiple screens, systems, and devices with ease.
- Industry Safety: Solid knowledge of health and safety protocols and transport management systems.
- Core Competencies: Ability to prioritize a heavy workload and a foundational knowledge of Continuous Improvement principles.
