Important: All applicants must be able to obtain Security Clearance and must hold British Nationality as their primary nationality.

Working: The role requires engineers on site for 3-5 days per week and is a on secure site where SC clearance is needed.

The Trials Engineer will undertake a broad range of technical, engineering and scientific activities, analysing, interpreting and evaluating complex technical information, concepts and data to support programme objectives.

The role will primarily involve contributing to the development and implementation of long-term system safety demonstration plans and test activities or developing expertise with support from experienced colleagues. The position requires collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders, including engineering teams, programme representatives and national regulatory authorities.

In addition to core ground trials activities, there will be opportunities to contribute to and develop expertise across a variety of specialist testing disciplines.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience of testing and trials, including areas such as mechanical and climatic testing, EMC or chemical analysis.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Takes ownership of work and is accountable for delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Desirable Experience:

  • Knowledge of military safety regulations, policies and standards, particularly those relating to Safety and Suitability for Service.
  • Understanding of safety assessment methodologies and risk management processes.
  • Practical engineering experience (mechanical, electrical and/or software) and experience working within a test or trials environment, including the use of test equipment, procedures and processes.
  • Awareness of project management principles and experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders across complex programmes.
