TPF Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a highly respected and growing accountancy practice in London, seeking an experienced Trust Assistant Manager or Trust Manager to join their established Private Client and Trusts Team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a trusts professional looking to develop their career within a leading firm, working with high net worth individuals (HNWIs), family trusts, estates, family offices and wealth preservation structures. The role offers a combination of trust accounting, trust tax compliance, trust administration and private client advisory work.
Trust Assistant Manager / Manager Job Overview
As a key member of the Trusts Team, you will manage a portfolio of UK resident trust clients, overseeing trust accounts, trust tax returns and trust administration matters, while supporting senior colleagues on complex advisory projects.
The position offers exposure to a broad range of trust and estate work, including inheritance tax planning, succession planning and trust restructuring assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of UK resident trust clients.
- Preparing and reviewing trust accounts and trust tax returns.
- Overseeing trust compliance and administration activities.
- Assisting with inheritance tax (IHT) planning and succession planning projects.
- Supporting trust restructuring and wealth preservation assignments.
- Preparing technical reports and client recommendations.
- Attending client meetings and supporting business development initiatives.
- Liaising with clients, solicitors, financial advisers and HMRC.
- Reviewing work prepared by junior staff members.
- Mentoring, training and developing junior colleagues.
- Ensuring all client and statutory deadlines are met.
RequirementsTrust Assistant Manager / Manager
- ACA, CTA or STEP qualified.
- At least 3–5 years' experience within a Trusts, Private Client Tax or Estate Planning team.
- Strong experience preparing and reviewing trust accounts.
- Experience completing trust tax returns and managing trust compliance work.
- Good understanding of UK trust taxation and private client tax matters.
- Previous exposure to high net worth individuals, family offices, landed estates or complex family wealth structures would be advantageous.
- Strong client relationship and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Experience supervising or reviewing junior team members' work is desirable.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of CCH Trust Accounts and CCH Personal Tax.
- Experience of inheritance tax planning and estate planning.
- Exposure to trusts advisory projects.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word skills.
