Search Consultancy is looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our client's busy workshop team in the North West.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanic to join an established operation and play a key role in maintaining specialist plant, machinery and vehicles.
Due to increasing operational demands, our client is looking to strengthen its workshop team to ensure equipment is maintained effectively, minimise downtime and maintain servicing and preventative maintenance schedules.
The successful candidate will have a varied, hands-on role working across a range of plant, trailers, engines and specialist equipment. You will be expected to bring strong general mechanical experience to the role, with training provided on specialist and bespoke machinery.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Carrying out general plant maintenance and mechanical repairs.
- Servicing and repairing plant machinery and van trailers.
- Undertaking engine servicing and preventative maintenance.
- Diagnosing and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic and diesel engine faults.
- Carrying out inspections and testing following repairs.
- Diagnosing mechanical faults and implementing effective repairs.
- Carrying out PAT testing.
- Supporting the day-to-day running and organisation of the workshop.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, safety and mechanical workmanship.
- Working independently while also contributing effectively as part of the wider team.
- Supporting site-based operations when required.
Welding and fabrication experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
About You
The ideal candidate will have a practical, hands-on approach and strong mechanical aptitude. You should be confident diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs and working independently with minimal supervision.
You should ideally have:
- A recognised mechanical qualification or relevant industry experience.
- Previous experience working with plant or heavy machinery.
- Experience with hydraulics, pneumatic and diesel engines.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to work safely and maintain a high standard of workmanship.
- A flexible and reliable approach to work.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
