Ready for a change from frontline clinical work? Do you enjoy using your clinical knowledge and professional judgement, but want to leave behind the nights, weekends and long shifts?

We’re recruiting WCA Functional Assessors in Bristol, giving experienced healthcare professionals the opportunity to use their clinical skills in a completely different setting.

You’ll assess how an individual's health condition or disability affects their functional ability and capability for work, before producing clear, objective and evidence-based reports.

Who can apply? We’re looking for:
  • Registered Nurses
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Physiotherapists
  • Active NMC or HCPC registration with no restrictions
  • At least 12 months of post-registration adult clinical experience
  • Full right to work in the UK — sponsorship is not available
No previous Functional Assessor experience is required. You’ll receive fully paid training to help you transition into the role.

What’s on offer?
  • Salary: £42,000 increasing to £43,000 after 12 months
  • Location: Bristol
  • 5% approval bonus following successful approval after training
  • Up to 10% annual performance and quality bonus
  • Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm

What will you be doing?
  • Conducting telephone, video and face-to-face assessments
  • Reviewing medical evidence and supporting information
  • Exploring how health conditions affect an individual's functional ability
  • Applying clinical reasoning and professional judgement
  • Producing accurate, objective and evidence-based reports
  • Managing your own workload effectively
There’s no hands-on treatment, prescribing or traditional clinical caseload. Instead, you’ll use your existing clinical experience to assess, analyse information and produce high-quality reports.

What are we looking for? You’ll need:
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good report-writing ability
  • Excellent clinical reasoning
  • Confidence using IT systems
  • The ability to work independently
  • Active professional registration
  • At least 12 months of post-registration adult clinical experience
