Contract Type: Permanent - Full time - 37 hours per week
Starting Salary - Appointments are normally made at the bottom of the salary scale. A higher starting salary may be considered in exceptional circumstances.

Barnsley College is seeking a motivated and student-focused Tutorial Learning Mentor to join our Land Based Industries team at Wigfield Farm. This is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference to our learners, supporting them throughout their college journey and helping them progress successfully into further study, employment or apprenticeships.
As a key member of the pastoral support team, you will manage a caseload of learners, providing high-quality one-to-one and group support. You will monitor attendance, progress and engagement, helping to identify learners who may be at risk of underachievement or disengagement and putting effective, solution-focused interventions in place.
You will also deliver engaging tutorials focused on personal development, study skills and progression, while working closely with tutors, parents and carers, support services and external agencies to ensure learners receive the right support at the right time.

With experience of working with young people and providing pastoral or tutorial support within an educational environment, you will understand the different barriers learners can face and know how to provide effective encouragement, guidance and intervention.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are essential, as you will work with a wide range of learners, colleagues, parents, carers and external organisations. You will be proactive and organised, with the ability to use learner information and data effectively to identify concerns, track progress and help students achieve positive outcomes.

Required
- Qualified to at least level 3
- Level 4 Teaching qualification e.g. CTLLS (or a willingness to work towards)
- Hold minimum of level 2 Qualification in English and Mathematics grade C or above
- 2 years’ experience of working with young people
- Experience of teaching/delivering tutorials/undertaking pastoral care in an education environment
- Experience of working with young people in an educational setting
- Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders in an educational setting
