Teaching Personnel is recruiting enthusiastic and compassionate individuals to work as Unqualified Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) and Teaching Assistants in secondary schools across Caerphilly. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, youth workers, care workers, sports coaches, support workers, and career changers looking to develop experience within education.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support students aged 11–18 both inside and outside the classroom, helping them to achieve their academic, social, and emotional goals.
The RoleAs a Learning Support Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
-
Assisting pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
-
Supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs) and behavioural challenges
-
Encouraging student engagement, confidence, and participation in lessons

Assisting teachers with classroom management and learning activities
-
Promoting a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment

Building strong relationships with students, staff, and parents
We are looking for candidates who are:

Interested in education, teaching, psychology, youth work, or SEN support

Strong communicators with excellent interpersonal skills

Looking to gain classroom experience before pursuing teacher training or further education

Able to travel to schools across the Caerphilly area

Willing to complete mandatory training and compliance checks

No previous school experience is required.
RequirementsTo be considered, applicants must:

Be eligible to work in the UK

Be willing to apply for an Enhanced DBS Certificate

Register with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) (support provided)

Provide two professional references

Complete required safeguarding and compliance training
