Tradewind Recruitment is working with a supportive secondary school in Northampton that is looking for an enthusiastic Unqualified Science Teacher to join their team from September 2026.
The school would ideally like to appoint on a permanent basis, but long-term and fixed-term supply options are also available. This opportunity would suit a Science graduate, tutor, Cover Supervisor, instructor, Teaching Assistant, or aspiring teacher who is ready to take the next step towards a career in education.
The Role
- Deliver well-structured, pre-planned Science lessons across KS3 and KS4.
- Teach and support students across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
- Use departmental resources and schemes of work to deliver effective lessons.
- Create a calm, positive, and engaging classroom environment.
- Adapt explanations, activities, and support to meet the needs of different learners.
- Encourage students to participate, ask questions, and develop their scientific understanding.
- Maintain clear expectations around behaviour, effort, and achievement.
- Work alongside qualified teachers and the wider Science department.
- Support revision, intervention, practical activities, and wider school initiatives where appropriate.
- Take advantage of CPD and opportunities to develop your classroom skills.
About You
- Strong knowledge of Science, ideally supported by a relevant degree or qualification.
- Experience working with children or young people is desirable, whether through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, youth work, or a school setting.
- Confident communicating with students and able to establish positive working relationships.
- Comfortable taking responsibility for a classroom and managing student behaviour.
- Enthusiastic, reliable, organised, and adaptable.
- Passionate about education and keen to help young people achieve.
- Interested in progressing towards teacher training and eventually gaining QTS.
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
