The Role

Who Would Thrive in This Role?

You don't need a traditional teaching background to be successful as an Unqualified Teacher. Many of the skills required to manage a classroom, engage learners, and build positive relationships are highly transferable from other professions.

This role could be ideal for:

  • Public Sector Professionals with experience communicating with and supporting a wide range of people.
  • Military Personnel or Veterans who can bring leadership, resilience, adaptability, and strong behaviour management skills into the classroom.
  • Careers Advisers who are experienced in mentoring, motivating, and guiding young people towards achieving their goals.
  • Youth Mentors and Youth Workers who understand how to build positive relationships and engage young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Trainers and Assessors who are confident delivering information, leading groups, and adapting their communication style to different audiences.
  • Tutors who are looking to transition from one-to-one or small-group support into a classroom setting.

If you've ever considered a career in teaching but want to see whether it's the right fit before undertaking a PGCE or formal teacher training, this role offers the perfect opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a secondary school while developing valuable classroom management and teaching skills. It allows you to make a real difference to young people's education while exploring a rewarding and potentially long-term career path.
