The Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Preparing and reviewing complex tax returns, compliance work, technical research and advice, ensuring compliance with relevant UK and US tax legislation.
- Providing tailored tax planning advice, identifying risks and recommending appropriate mitigation strategies and opportunities to improve client's tax positions.
- Managing relationships with tax authorities where required, including leading or supporting responses to audits, enquiries and notices.
- Supporting clients with tax budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
- Reviewing work produced by Tax Consultants and Senior Tax Consultants, providing technical guidance, constructive feedback and ongoing mentoring.
- Working with senior management and colleagues across the business to contribute to tax strategy and the development of the firm's service offering.
- Improving processes, systems and efficiency, while supporting business development and identifying opportunities to grow existing client relationships.
The Person:
You'll have at least five years' experience in a tax-focused role within an accountancy or public accounting environment, with a track record of managing client portfolios and delivering both compliance and advisory work.
- An ATT/CTA qualification; ACA or ACCA is also desirable.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK and/or US taxation, including extensive knowledge of relevant tax regulations where applicable.
- Experience reviewing complex tax returns and technical work.
- Experience leading, supervising or mentoring junior tax professionals.
- Clear communication, strong relationship-building skills and the confidence to explain complex matters to clients.
- Strong analytical judgement, commercial awareness and the organisation to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- A proactive approach to improving services, processes and client relationships.
- For US tax specialists, a CPA, EA or equivalent qualification would be desirable.
