We're recruiting for an experienced User Researcher to join the innovative DWP Digital Garage team in Newcastle. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in shaping user-centred digital services that support millions of people across the UK.
Working within multidisciplinary Agile teams, you'll lead and deliver research activities that uncover user needs, influence design decisions, and drive service improvements across complex digital transformation programmes.
What You'll Be Doing
- Planning, structuring, and delivering user research using a range of primary and secondary research methods.
- Developing research strategies and plans aligned to project objectives and stakeholder needs.
- Conducting user interviews, usability testing, workshops, surveys, and other research activities.
- Analysing complex qualitative and quantitative data to generate actionable insights.
- Presenting findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
- Identifying trends, behaviours, and opportunities to improve digital products and services.
- Collaborating closely with product managers, designers, developers, and delivery teams.
- Acting as a subject matter expert for UX research, championing best practice across teams.
- Supporting the continuous improvement of research methodologies, tools, and processes.
What We're Looking For
✅ Strong experience delivering User Experience (UX) Research within Agile environments.
✅ Expertise in a range of user research methods and techniques.
✅ Ability to translate complex research findings into clear, evidence-based recommendations.
✅ Experience managing stakeholders and influencing decision-making through research insights.
✅ Strong communication and presentation skills.
✅ Proven ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and disciplines.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working within large-scale government or public sector programmes.
- Knowledge of GDS principles and standards.
- Advanced experience using UX research tools and frameworks.
