The opportunity
An established and growing organisation operating within the multi-utility and infrastructure sector is looking to appoint an experienced Contracts Manager to take responsibility for the successful commercial and operational delivery of a portfolio of utility and infrastructure contracts.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute contracts professional who can combine strong contract management skills with practical operational leadership. You will work closely with clients, subcontractors, project teams and internal stakeholders to ensure contracts are delivered safely, efficiently, commercially and to the required standards.
Key responsibilities
- Manage contracts from mobilisation through to completion, ensuring contractual, commercial and operational requirements are met.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
- Monitor contract performance, programme, costs, risks and profitability.
- Manage variations, valuations, applications for payment, compensation events and commercial negotiations.
- Ensure contractual obligations, notices and reporting requirements are managed effectively.
- Identify and mitigate commercial, contractual and operational risks.
- Work closely with project and operational teams to resolve issues and maintain delivery programmes.
- Manage subcontractor performance and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
- Produce and review commercial and contract performance reports.
- Support business development and tendering activity where required.
- Promote high standards of health, safety, quality and environmental compliance.
About you
We are looking for someone with proven experience in a Contracts Manager or similar commercial/contract management role, ideally within utilities, civil engineering, infrastructure, construction or a related environment.
You will ideally have:
- Strong knowledge of NEC and/or other relevant forms of contract.
- Demonstrable experience managing contracts and commercial risk.
- Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Good financial and commercial awareness.
- The ability to interpret contractual terms and translate them into practical actions.
- Experience managing subcontractors and supply-chain relationships.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the confidence to make commercial decisions.
Relevant professional qualifications or membership of a recognised industry body would be advantageous.
