Utilities Coordinator/ Engineer:
- Responsible for reviewing and approving permits to work and ensuring the protection of utility assets across the HS2 programme.
- Reviewing and approving plans for breaking ground activities, ensuring compliance with utility detection, excavation and safe digging procedures.
- Supporting site teams in the safe and compliant delivery of works involving underground and overhead services.
- Undertaking site engineering duties, including survey control, setting out and verification of works in accordance with contract drawings and specifications.
- Assisting site management teams with the delivery of work packages and subcontractor management.
- Liaising with client representatives, designers and stakeholders to resolve design queries and coordinate design changes.
- Ensuring materials delivered to site comply with project specifications and maintaining accurate quality records.
- Checking subcontractor setting out and ensuring works are delivered to the required standards and tolerances.
- Carrying out inspections and quality checks in accordance with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
- Maintaining calibration records, survey equipment registers and construction records, including excavation, concrete and reinforcement documentation.
- Undertaking as-built surveys and ensuring accurate handover records are maintained.
- Assisting with the preparation of RAMS, method statements, task briefings and Inspection & Test Plans.
- Promoting and maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance across all work activities.
- Working collaboratively with construction, engineering and commercial teams to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, to programme and in accordance with HS2 requirements.
Key Skills and qualifications
· SMSTS / SSSTS
· IOSH Avoiding Danger form Underground Services or EUSR or NVQ Equivalent
· Understanding of Overhead (GS6) and Underground (HSG47) procedures and constraints in working around of multi-utility’s.
· Knowledge of Statutory Undertakers safety and control procures
· Understanding of GIS
· Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
· Cable avoidance training
· Experience of setting out on civil engineering projects and management of daily activities.
· Experience with Utility construction
· Must have a valid CSCS Card
· Must have a valid UK drivers license and access to own vehicle
