Van Driver/Fitter (Temporary Ongoing Opportunity)

Locations: Newham & Waltham Forest sites
Pay Rate: £13.54 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm
Contract: Ongoing Temporary Assignment

Adecco are recruiting on behalf of a council-owned organisation providing vital community support services across Newham and Waltham Forest. This is an excellent opportunity to join a team delivering essential medical equipment and mobility aids directly to residents' homes.

About the Role

As part of the team, you will initially work as a Driver's Mate while your Enhanced DBS clearance is being processed. During this period, you will support drivers with deliveries, installations, vehicle loading and unloading, and warehouse duties, giving you valuable insight into the role and full training on company procedures.

Once your Enhanced DBS has been successfully completed, you will move into the Van Driver position, taking responsibility for deliveries and collections across Newham, Waltham Forest and surrounding East London areas.

The service provides community equipment, sensory support, wheelchairs, and specialist seating solutions to local residents. Some deliveries may include basic installation work, for which full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and collect medical equipment using a 3.5-tonne van
  • Assist with the installation and demonstration of equipment in customers' homes
  • Provide a professional and compassionate service to vulnerable residents
  • Load and unload vehicles safely
  • Complete daily vehicle checks and follow health and safety procedures
  • Support warehouse operations when deliveries are completed
  • Work independently and as part of a supportive team

Essential Requirements

  • Full clean UK driving licence
  • Minimum 2 years' UK commercial driving experience
  • Enhanced DBS will be required and processed
  • Minimum 5 years' checkable employment history
  • Customer-facing experience
  • Proof of right to work in the UK
