Van Driver / Workshop Operative
Location: Blantyre, Glasgow
Salary: £26,500 - £28,000 per annum (DOE)
Hours: Full Time - Monday to Friday
About the Company
Our client is a leading supplier of specialist lifting equipment, vacuum handling solutions, and niche plant machinery to the construction, rail, and utilities sectors across the UK and Europe. Due to continued growth, they are looking for a reliable and hands-on Van Driver / Workshop Operative to join their Glasgow depot team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role combining customer deliveries, vehicle responsibilities, and practical workshop duties within a growing engineering and plant hire environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Depot Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring equipment is delivered and collected safely from customers while also supporting the day-to-day running of the workshop.
Your duties will include:
- Delivering and collecting equipment and goods to and from customer sites
- Ensuring all loads are safely secured and transported in line with company procedures
- Loading and unloading equipment safely and efficiently
- Maintaining excellent communication with customers and internal teams
- Completing vehicle checks, cleaning, and general vehicle upkeep
- Supporting workshop operations and assisting engineers where required
- Preparing equipment and keeping workshop areas clean, organised, and safe
- Carrying out general manual handling and practical tasks
- Supporting the team to ensure the depot operates efficiently
- Following all company Health & Safety policies and procedures
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have:
- A full clean UK driving licence (Category B essential)
- Previous commercial driving or delivery experience
- Good knowledge of the Glasgow and Central Belt road network
- Experience working within a workshop, engineering, plant hire, or similar environment (desirable)
- Strong attention to detail and a safety-first approach
- Good communication skills and a professional attitude when dealing with customers
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to get involved
Desirable Skills:
- Forklift licence
- B+E towing entitlement
- Experience delivering plant, machinery, tools, or specialist equipment
