Our client, Gloucestershire Constabulary are seeking a dedicated and skilled Vehicle Technician to join their team in Quedgeley. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with a passion for maintaining and servicing vehicles, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety and performance.

### Key Responsibilities:
As a Vehicle Technician, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting inspections of vehicles to meet Ministry of Transport and manufacturer standards.
  • Performing servicing, maintenance, and repairs on vehicles and equipment to quality standards and within designated timeframes.
  • Undertaking commissioning and decommissioning of Force vehicles, including fitting lightbars, sirens, and radios.
  • Executing a variety of electrical modifications and repairs, such as replacing bulbs and diagnosing vehicle electrical systems.
  • Carrying out fault diagnosis on engine management systems using electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • Completing MOT inspections and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Assisting in the design, fabrication, and fitting out of specialist vehicles.
  • Maintaining accurate records for administration processes, including timesheets and inspection reports.
  • Conducting road tests on vehicles using designated test routes.
  • Ensuring a safe and clean working environment by maintaining workshop housekeeping.
  • Flexibly working additional hours as required, including emergency repairs and support during planned events.

### Ideal Candidate Profile:
Our client is looking for individuals who possess:

  • A minimum of 3 years of light vehicle diagnosis and repair experience, with at least 2 years as a fully skilled auto technician.
  • A qualification of at least NVQ Level 3 in Motor Vehicle Craft Studies or equivalent.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in fleet servicing and repairs, including vehicle wiring, diagnostics, and engine repair.
  • Experience with vehicle electrics and current computerised diagnostic equipment (desirable).
  • A current UK Driver's Licence to facilitate travel as required.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with staff and external agencies.

### Additional Information:

  • The role requires vetting to Recruitment Vetting (RV) standards.
  • Normal working hours will average 37 per week, with flexibility to accommodate the needs of the service.
  • Candidates must be committed to upholding health and safety, environmental management, and other relevant legislation.
