Vehicle Technician – Independent Specialist Garage

£45,000–£50,000 + up to £5,000 bonus
Monday–Friday | 8:15am–5:30pm | 42.5 hours per week

Let’s be honest. You didn’t become a Vehicle Technician because you enjoy sitting behind a desk, drinking lukewarm coffee and attending meetings about meetings.

You became a technician because you like fixing things.

And if you enjoy a bit of diagnostics, a bit of mechanical work, a bit of engine work and the occasional battle with a bolt that clearly hasn’t been touched since 2009, this could be right up your street.

We’re recruiting on behalf of an independent specialist garage looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician to join their team of four.

You’ll have your own ramp, your own workspace and a genuinely varied workload. No production line. No being stuck doing the same service job 14 times a day. Just good, varied workshop work and the occasional opportunity to ask yourself, “Who designed this?”

The Role

The garage works on everything from current models through to vehicles around 15 years old, so there’s plenty to keep things interesting.

You’ll be getting involved with:

• Diagnostics and fault finding
• Servicing and routine maintenance
• Mechanical repairs
• Engine work
• General workshop repairs
• Investigating noises that apparently “weren’t there yesterday”
• Fixing things that someone else has already tried to fix
• Working out what the manufacturer was thinking when they designed that particular component

In short, it’s a proper mixed-bag technician role.

You’ll have your own ramp and dedicated work area, so you can get on with the job without someone constantly asking if you’ve “had a look at that one yet?”

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician who knows their way around a workshop and doesn’t need Google to tell them which end of a ratchet to hold.

You’ll need good diagnostic and mechanical skills, the ability to work independently and pride in doing a job properly.

Mercedes experience would be preferred, but it’s not essential.

More important is that you’re a competent all-round technician who can look at a fault, diagnose the problem and fix it without replacing half the car “just in case”.

If you can hear a funny noise from 20 feet away and immediately say, “That’ll be the ___,” even better.
