Vehicle Technician in St Albans

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established, family-run garage in St Albans for the position of Vehicle Technician. This opportunity is ideal for experienced professionals seeking a reputable and stable work environment within the automotive industry. The Vehicle Technician role offers a chance to work with a diverse range of vehicle makes and models, providing opportunities for technical development and career progression.

  • Monday to Friday working hours (8.30am – 6pm)
  • Two Saturdays per month (8.30am – 12.30pm)
  • Opportunities to work on all vehicle makes, including servicing, repairs, diagnostics, clutches, and engine work
  • MOT testing ability advantageous, though not essential
  • Supportive team environment focused on quality and customer satisfaction
Duties:
  • Conduct routine vehicle servicing and repairs to industry standards
  • Diagnose faults through electronic diagnostics and carry out relevant repairs
  • Perform clutch replacements and engine work as required
  • Undertake MOT testing once qualified
  • Ensure all work complies with manufacturer guidelines and safety standards
  • Maintain high levels of customer service, providing clear communication and technical advice
  • Collaborate with team members to meet workshop targets and business goals
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in vehicle maintenance and repair
  • MOT qualification; at least 3 years' testing experience or the ability to qualify
  • Demonstrable technical skills with a proactive approach
  • Full set of automotive tools
  • Experience working in a busy garage environment, ideally meeting main dealer standards
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
