Veterinary Oncologist

Vet Finders

Veterinary Oncologist Specialist or Registrar | Melbourne or Geelong (or both).

What if your next role gave you everything you love about referral practice, interesting cases, brilliant colleagues, high-level medicine and cutting-edge equipment, without sacrificing your life outside of work?

Welcome to MARS and GARS, two of Victoria’s fastest-growing multidisciplinary referral hospitals, privately owned by specialists who still work clinically every day. That means decisions can be made quickly, ideas are encouraged, and people are treated like people, not numbers on a spreadsheet.

This is the kind of environment many specialists hope exists but rarely find. A place where high-level medicine, genuine collaboration, and a supportive team culture come together naturally. The team works hard, enjoys a  few laughs along the way, and genuinely enjoys what they do.

They are looking for a Specialist or Residency-Trained Registrar in Oncology to join their outstanding team on either a full-time or part-time basis. You can be based in Melbourne, Geelong, or split your time between both hospitals, they’re only an hour apart.

About the role:

You’ll join an established Oncology service currently comprising a Specialist and 2 interns, working alongside an exceptional multidisciplinary team of surgeons, medics, radiologists, anaesthetists, ECC clinicians, residents and interns. The service is set to establish a residency program in the near future.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Deliver comprehensive oncology consultations, staging, and treatment planning
  • Plan chemotherapy and other advanced anti-cancer therapie
  • Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary specialist teams
  • Supporting and mentoring residents, interns and junior staff.
  • Contributing to clinical innovation and service development.

Why people love working here:

  • Brand-new, state-of-the-art referral hospitals.
  • CT, MRI, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, DR radiography, NIRF imaging, Endoscopy, Electrochemotherapy, Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy and more.
  • F/T or P/T considered.
  • No weekends, no on-call, no sole charge.
  • Sign-on bonus and relocation support available.
  • Generous CPD and career development support.
  • A collaborative, down-to-earth culture with excellent staff retention.

The MARS/GARS group has grown rapidly and now includes 16 specialists and around 30 residents and interns, supported by an exceptional nursing, HR and customer service team. The culture here is something the leadership team is hugely proud of, supportive, ambitious, collaborative and refreshingly down-to-earth.

The Lifestyle bit

Melbourne is regularly ranked as one of the most liveable cities in the world, and honestly, it’s not hard to see why. Incredible food, cafés, arts, live sport, beaches, wineries, national parks and easy international travel all sit on your doorstep.

Prefer a slightly slower pace? Geelong offers waterfront living, riverside walks, amazing cafés, wineries, golf courses and the famous Surf Coast nearby. With Torquay, the Great Ocean Road and beautiful beaches close by, it’s easy to see why so many people are choosing Geelong for a more relaxed lifestyle without giving up city conveniences.
