Vinyl/Membrane Press Operator & Assembly Operative

Display By Design is a well-established UK manufacturer specialising in retail displays, point-of-sale, shopfitting and bespoke interiors. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a practical and reliable Vinyl/Membrane Press Operator & Assembly Operative to join our production team.

This is a dual-role position, combining the operation of our vinyl/membrane press with general assembly work across a wide variety of retail display and bespoke manufacturing projects. The role would suit someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in producing a quality finish and is comfortable working across different areas of production.

Key Responsibilities

• Operating the vinyl/membrane press to apply vinyl finishes to manufactured components.

• Preparing components prior to pressing, including checking surfaces and materials.

• Loading, setting and operating the press safely and efficiently.

• Inspecting finished components to ensure they meet our quality standards.

• Trimming and finishing vinyl-covered components where required.

• Assembling retail display units, furniture and other manufactured products.

• Using hand tools and basic power tools as part of the assembly process.

• Reading drawings, job sheets and assembly instructions.

• Checking components and finished products for quality and accuracy.

• Packing and preparing completed products for delivery where required.

• Working closely with other members of the production team to meet deadlines.

• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working area.

What We're Looking For

Previous experience operating a vinyl press, membrane press or similar manufacturing equipment would be advantageous, although training can be provided for someone with the right practical skills and attitude.

You should be:

• Practical and confident working with your hands.

• Able to work accurately and pay close attention to detail.

• Quality focused and take pride in your work.

• Comfortable using hand and power tools.

• Able to work independently as well as part of a team.

• Reliable, punctual and willing to learn.

• Flexible and happy to work across different areas of production when required.

• Experienced within furniture, joinery, retail display, shopfitting or a similar manufacturing environment would be an advantage.
