We are currently supporting a LA to recruit an experienced Vision Rehabilitation Specialist / Rehabilitation Officer for Visual Impairment (ROVI) to join their Adult Sensory Team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified specialist to provide person-centred rehabilitation to adults with visual impairment, sight loss and dual sensory loss, helping people maximise their independence, safety, wellbeing and social inclusion.

The Role

• Undertake specialist visual impairment and rehabilitation assessments.
• Identify individuals' strengths, needs, risks, aspirations and desired outcomes.
• Develop, implement and review person-centred rehabilitation plans.
• Deliver rehabilitation interventions to promote independence and reduce reliance on others.
• Provide orientation and mobility training, including guiding techniques, cane skills, route planning and safe travel.
• Support individuals with daily living skills and adapting to sight loss.
• Assess and provide advice around low vision aids, assistive technology, equipment and adaptations.
• Provide advice on lighting, glare reduction, colour contrast and environmental accessibility.
• Contribute to Care Act assessments and safeguarding processes where required.
• Work collaboratively with health, social care and voluntary sector professionals.
• Maintain accurate case records, reports and assessments.
• Manage and prioritise an allocated caseload effectively.
• Contribute to service development and continuous improvement.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

• A Degree, Foundation Degree or Diploma in Rehabilitation Studies (Visual Impairment) or an equivalent recognised qualification.
• Experience working with adults with visual impairment, sight loss or dual sensory loss.
• Experience undertaking specialist assessments and delivering rehabilitation interventions.
• Practical experience of orientation and mobility / cane training.
• Knowledge and experience of low vision rehabilitation, specialist equipment and assistive technology.
• An understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Adult Safeguarding and Equality Act 2010.
• Strong assessment, analytical and report-writing skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to manage an independent caseload and work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment.
