Elevation Recruitment Group's Skilled Shop Floor Team are working with a well-established precision engineering business supplying the medical and aerospace sectors to recruit an experienced Visual Inspector.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected manufacturer producing precision-engineered components within a clean, modern facility. The role is ideal for someone with a strong inspection background who is confident working to detailed engineering drawings, customer specifications and strict quality standards.
Job Title: Visual Inspector
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £13.89 – £14.43 per hour
Shift Pattern: Rotating Days & Afternoons
Shift Pattern
Monday – Thursday
- Mornings: 6:00am – 2:00pm
- Afternoons: 2:00pm – 10:00pm
Friday – Early Finish
- Mornings: 6:00am – 12:00pm
- Afternoons: 12:00pm – 6:00pm
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out first-off, in-process and final inspection of manufactured components.
- Perform dimensional inspections using a range of precision inspection equipment, including verniers and gauges.
- Conduct detailed visual inspections to identify defects and quality issues.
- Interpret complex engineering drawings and customer specifications.
- Verify product conformity against manufacturing routes, inspection specifications and internal work instructions.
- Complete inspection reports, FAIR documentation and customer quality documentation accurately.
- Ensure full traceability of materials, components and manufacturing records.
- Raise and record non-conformances and assist with containment activities.
- Support root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Approve products for progression through manufacturing or release to customers.
- Monitor the calibration status of inspection equipment.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential:
- Previous experience within a precision engineering inspection role.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
- Understanding of geometric tolerancing.
- Experience using a variety of precision measuring equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to make objective quality decisions.
- Experience working to documented quality procedures.
- Competent computer skills.
Desirable:
- Experience within aerospace manufacturing.
- Experience within orthopaedic or medical device manufacturing.
- Knowledge of aerospace quality standards and inspection processes.
- Understanding of first-off, in-process and final inspection requirements.
- Experience identifying, documenting and managing non-conforming products.
Qualifications & Additional Requirements
- FLT licence / experience.
- First Aider / Fire Marshall experience.
- Quality inspection qualifications would be desirable.
