About us
At Arbour Healthcare Group, we provide specialist residential care for children and young people who need safe, nurturing and emotionally attuned adults around them.
We look beyond behaviour to understand its story, build trust, create safety and help young people believe change is possible.
Our mission is simple:
Rooted in Care. Giving Change a Chance.
We are recruiting Waking Night Residential Support Workers for our children’s residential homes in Ruabon. Our homes support young people with autism, learning disabilities, ADHD, complex needs, trauma histories and behaviours that may sometimes challenge.
About the role
This is not a passive role or simply about remaining awake. You will be part of the emotional and physical safety of the home, providing reassurance during the hours when anxiety, distress or dysregulation can increase.
You will maintain a calm, predictable and nurturing environment, complete welfare checks, support routines, respond to individual needs and ensure information is recorded and handed over accurately.
You will support safeguarding and continuity of care by following each young person’s care plan, risk assessment and agreed strategies.
What you will do
You will provide high-quality, person-centred care; respond calmly to challenging situations; support emotional regulation and overnight routines; maintain dignity, privacy and professional boundaries; complete accurate logs, observations and incident reports; follow safeguarding procedures; escalate concerns appropriately; and work closely with the wider residential care team.
You will deliver our RESET Care Model: Reassure, Empower, Support, Educate and Transition.
What we are looking for
We need people who are steady, resilient, reliable and committed to making a difference.
You do not need to be perfect, but you do need to be kind. You must be willing to listen, learn, reflect and keep showing up with the right attitude.
Experience in children’s services, residential care, education, youth work, mental health, learning disabilities, vulnerable adult services or complex care would be valuable. Previous children’s residential experience is desirable, but we will consider applicants who demonstrate the right values and commitment to learn.
You will need:
• A sound understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
• The ability to remain calm and make safe decisions under pressure
• Good written communication and recording skills
• A professional, caring and consistent approach
• A willingness to learn about trauma-informed care, PACE and positive behaviour support
• A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
Inclusion
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Diversity strengthens our teams and care.
