The Company

Loom Talent are proud to have been exclusively appointed to lead the hiring strategy for a new role, Warehouse Health and Safety Advisor based in Bedfordshire.

Working for a well-established, growing, in house logistics business that has retained a personal culture while becoming a sophisticated, multi-site operation. With six warehouse locations, around 600,000 sq. ft. of warehousing, and a fleet of 80+ vehicles.

Are you a Health & Safety professional who prefers being on the ground, working with people and making a real difference, rather than sitting behind a desk?

This is a hands-on, multi-site role where you'll be a visible Health & Safety Champion, working closely with operational managers, supervisors and colleagues to make sure safety is embedded into the way they work.

What will you be doing?

You'll play a key role in:

  • 🦺 Developing and maintaining risk assessments, SOPs and safe systems of work
  • 🔎 Carrying out workplace inspections, audits and hazard-spotting activities
  • 📋 Leading accident, incident and near-miss investigations
  • 🎯 Driving corrective and preventative actions through to completion
  • 🗣️ Delivering toolbox talks, safety briefings and H&S training
  • 📊 Monitoring H&S performance, trends and compliance
  • 👥 Coaching and supporting operational teams on safe working practices
  • 🔄 Helping drive continuous improvements across our warehouse operations
  • 📚 Ensuring compliance with relevant UK H&S legislation and company standards
  • 🤝 Working closely with our operational leadership team and DGSA

The successful candidate for the role of Warehouse Health and Safety Advisor will have the following:

Practical experience of Health & Safety within a Warehouse, Logistics, Storage or Distribution environment.

You'll need:

  • IOSH qualification or equivalent
  • Experience in Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain
  • Experience producing risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Experience investigating incidents and implementing corrective actions
  • Experience delivering toolbox talks, training or safety briefings
  • A good understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • The confidence to challenge unsafe behaviours constructively
  • The ability to work independently across a multi-site operation

Experience in a regulated storage environment or an Internal Auditor qualification would be an advantage.

What makes this role unique:

This isn't a role where you'll simply write policies and wait for something to happen.

You'll be out in the operation, building relationships, identifying risks, influencing behaviours and helping teams find safer and better ways of working.

You'll have the opportunity to make a genuine impact on the safety culture while working closely with the operational leadership team.

If you're passionate about Health & Safety and want a role where your experience, ideas and influence will be valued, I would be keen to hear from you.
