Warehouse Manager

The Role:

To lead the safe, efficient and compliant operation of the warehouse, ensuring the effective receipt, storage, control and dispatch of stock and customer orders. 

The role is responsible for supporting both the distribution function and sign manufacturing business unit by ensuring inventory accuracy and high standards of customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

Warehouse Operations

  • Manage all goods in, storage, stock control, picking, packing and dispatch activities.
  • Ensure customer orders are accuratly picked, packed and dispatched to meet agreed delivery dates and service levels.
  • Oversee the receipt of supplier deliveries, ensuring stock is checked, booked in and stores in the correct location.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy thorugh regular stock checks, audits and investigation of stock discrepncies.
  • Support the TM and Commercial Sign Manufacturing operation by ensuring the availability and movement of raw materials, components and finishe dproducts.
  • Ensure the safe loading and unloading of vehicles and effective management of warehouse space, equipment and resources.
  • Identify and implement operational improvements to increase efficiency, productivity and customer satisfaction.

Team Leadership and Management

  • Lead, motivate and develop warehouse personnel to achieve operational and business objectives.
  • Plan and allocate resources to meet workload demands and service requirements.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews and return to work discussions.
  • Identify training and development needs to ensure competence across all warehouse activities.
  • Promote a positive culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement and employee engagement.
  • Manage departmental costs and resource in line with budgets and business targets.
  • Protect company assets and maintain security of stock, facilities and equipment.

Quality

  • Ensure high standards of quality, accuracy and service are maintained across all warehouse processes.
  • Accountable for inventory accuracy and order fulfilment performance.
  • Investigate stock issues, customer complaints and process failures, implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enshance product quality, operational performance and customer experience.
  • Maintain high standards of house keeping and workplace organization.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality procedures and support internal and external audits.

HSEQ

  • Lead by example in promoting positive HSEQ culture.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, company policies, risk assessments, safe systems of work and operational procedures.
  • Maintain and review RAMs, risk assessments and control measures relevant to warehouse activities.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, audits and safety briefings, ensuring actions are completed within agreed timescales.
  • Support environmental, quality and sustainability initiatives, including ISO management systems and carbon reduction objectives.
  • Work closely with the HSEQ team to drive continuous improvement, share best practice and maintain compliance across the business.

Person Specification:

The successful candidate is likely to meet all the following criteria:

Essential

  • Previous experience of managing a warehouse operation.
  • Commercially aware
  • Computer literate
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.

Desirable

  • Industry knowledge
  • Full UK Driving License

Our staff are trained and fully qualified in the maintenance, calibration and inspection of a full range of specialist safety & lifting equipment.
