Our client operates within the waste management and recycling sector, supporting the recovery and processing of recyclable materials. They are committed to maintaining a safe, clean and efficient working environment, helping to ensure that recyclable materials are correctly identified and separated for further processing.

The Role

Westray Recruitment is looking for reliable and hardworking Waste Recycling Operatives to join our client's team at their facility in Selby.

Working as part of a busy recycling operation, you will be responsible for manually sorting recyclable materials from a moving conveyor belt, helping to ensure that waste is separated efficiently and safely.

Your duties will include:

• Visually inspecting waste materials as they move along a conveyor system.
• Identifying and removing recyclable materials, including cardboard, paper, plastics, metals, glass and wood.
• Placing sorted materials into the correct chutes, bins or containers for further processing.
• Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working area around your workstation.
• Following all site health, safety and environmental procedures.
• Reporting equipment faults, blockages or potential safety concerns to supervisors.
• Assisting with general housekeeping and other facility duties as required.

The Person

To be successful in this role, you will need to be reliable, safety-conscious and comfortable working in a busy, hands-on environment.

We are looking for candidates who have:

• The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to recognise different materials.
• An awareness of workplace health and safety procedures.
• The physical fitness required to stand for extended periods and carry out repetitive tasks.
• A positive attitude and the ability to work well as part of a team.
• A flexible and hardworking approach to daily duties.

Previous experience in recycling, waste management, production or a similar manual role would be beneficial, although a willingness to learn and follow instructions is essential.
