Water Jet / Laser Machine Operator

Location: Birmingham
Shift: Afternoon Shift (2:00pm – 10:30pm)
Salary: Up to £20 per hour including shift allowanc

We're looking for a reliable and motivated Water Jet / Laser Machine Operator to join our production team. This is an excellent opportunity to work with advanced cutting machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, producing high-quality components to customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate water jet and laser cutting machines.
• Safely load and unload materials.
• Monitor machine performance and make routine adjustments as required.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Carry out quality inspections using measuring equipment to ensure products meet specification.
• Identify and report production issues or defects promptly.
• Complete production records and maintain accurate documentation.
• Perform routine machine cleaning and basic maintenance checks.
• Ensure materials are correctly identified, handled and stored.
• Work to production schedules while meeting daily output targets.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Follow all company Health & Safety procedures and policies.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

• Has experience operating manufacturing machinery (water jet, laser, CNC or similar).
• Can read and interpret engineering drawings (preferred but not essential).
• Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in producing quality work.
• Is confident using measuring equipment such as verniers and tape measures.
• Can work independently as well as part of a team.
• Has strong communication skills.
• Is reliable, punctual and has a positive attitude.
• Is eager to learn and develop new skills.
