Role Overview:

Wynnstay Group is seeking an organised and dependable Weighbridge Operator to support the safe, accurate and efficient movement of vehicles and materials at our Llansantffraid site.

You'll take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the weighbridge, accurately recording vehicle movements, coordinating deliveries and ensuring all associated documentation is completed correctly. As a key point of contact for drivers arriving on site, you'll provide clear instructions, communicate site rules and support an efficient booking-in and departure process.

Alongside your weighbridge responsibilities, you'll provide administrative support across transport, logistics and compliance activities. This will include maintaining accurate records, responding to enquiries, communicating with colleagues across different departments and helping the Transport Manager monitor operational performance

You'll also support the site's quality and accreditation requirements by assisting with the checking and sampling of feed materials entering the mill through the laboratory process.

The weighbridge operates between 6:00am and 8:00pm, with coverage shared between two operatives on a rotating weekly shift pattern.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is confident working in a busy operational environment, has strong attention to detail and enjoys coordinating people, vehicles and information to keep a site running smoothly.

Responsibilities:

  • Operating and managing the Llansantffraid weighbridge accurately, safely and efficiently.
  • Recording the arrival, weighing and departure of bulk vehicles and ensuring all vehicle movements are correctly documented.
  • Booking deliveries onto the site efficiently and helping to ensure vehicles arrive and depart in accordance with the agreed schedule.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for drivers, providing clear briefings and debriefings regarding site rules, procedures and operational requirements.
  • Checking weighbridge information and associated documentation for accuracy, investigating discrepancies and escalating concerns when appropriate.
  • Supporting the administration of transport activities and helping to maintain accurate and compliant transport records.
  • Learning and using routing, distribution and operational systems to support consistency, reduce duplication and improve cost-effectiveness.
  • Assisting with the checking, sampling and accreditation processes for feed and raw materials entering the mill through the laboratory.
  • Liaising with transport colleagues, operational teams and other Wynnstay sites to coordinate deliveries and support the smooth running of daily activities.
  • Responding to driver, customer and internal enquiries in a timely, professional and efficient manner.
  • Working closely with colleagues across the site to maintain high standards of service, safety and site cleanliness.
  • Monitoring agreed operational information and providing the Transport Manager with accurate updates and key performance information.
  • Identifying and promptly escalating any irregularities, safety concerns, documentation issues or operational risks that could affect the business.
  • Supporting continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve weighbridge, transport and administrative processes.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and handling commercially sensitive or operational information appropriately.

  • A responsible approach to health and safety, compliance and site procedures.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating weekly shift pattern covering the site's weighbridge operating hours between 6:00am and 8:00pm.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience operating a weighbridge or working within a transport, logistics, agricultural or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience coordinating vehicle movements, deliveries or site access.
  • Knowledge of transport documentation, routing or distribution processes.
  • Experience maintaining compliance records or supporting operational audits.
  • Previous experience handling agricultural products, animal feed or raw materials.
  • Experience of sampling, laboratory processes or quality-control procedures.
  • An understanding of weighbridge regulations and associated record-keeping requirements.
