Welder – Hinkley Point C | £28 per Hour

CNC Recruitment is currently seeking experienced and qualified Welders to work on the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project.

We are looking for skilled Welders with relevant site experience, appropriate welding qualifications and a strong commitment to health and safety.

Pay Rate: £28.00 per hour

Employment: Site-based

Qualifications: Relevant welding qualifications and certifications required

Experience: Minimum 2 years' relevant site experience

Site Safety: Valid Site Safety Passport required

Main Duties & Responsibilities

The successful Welder will be responsible for:

Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, job specifications and welding instructions to determine job requirements.

Preparing, positioning and securing components ready for welding, using appropriate jigs, fixtures and other equipment.

Selecting the correct welding equipment and process for the materials and job requirements.

Setting up welding equipment, including fitting suitable torch tips, electrodes and associated consumables.

Connecting gas supplies, hoses, power supplies, welding leads and other equipment safely and correctly.

Adjusting welding equipment controls to achieve the required gas pressure, voltage and amperage.

Preheating materials where required prior to welding.

Carrying out welding to the required specification, quality standards and tolerances.

Using a range of welding processes, including:

Manual Metal Arc (MMA)

Metal Arc Gas Shielded/MIG/MAG

Tungsten Arc Gas Shielded/TIG

Cleaning, dressing and finishing completed welds and carrying out visual inspections to ensure required quality standards are met.

Using oxy/fuel equipment for hand burning, heating and cutting where required.

Operating overhead cranes and carrying out basic slinging activities safely and in accordance with site procedures.

Safely operating relevant workshop and site equipment associated with welding activities.

Completing pre-use safety checks on tools, welding equipment and associated machinery.

Complying with all HPC, client, company and statutory health and safety requirements.

Following all relevant welding procedures, quality standards and client specifications.

Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.

Undertaking any relevant training or certification required for the role.

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

An approved welding apprenticeship or relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification.

A minimum of 2 years' practical welding/site experience.

Previous experience working on a petrochemical, nuclear, industrial, engineering or similar major construction site.

Relevant welding qualifications, such as ASME Section IX or EN 287, as required for the specific assignment.

A valid Site Safety Passport and any relevant HPC/site-specific safety certification.

Proven ability to read and understand engineering drawings and welding specifications.

Practical experience using relevant welding processes and equipment.

Experience operating overhead cranes and undertaking basic slinging activities is desirable.

A strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.

The ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering/site team.
