The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced MIG Welder / Fabricator to join an established and growing engineering and manufacturing business in East Sussex.
This is a hands-on workshop-based role, working on the manufacture of high-quality bespoke metal components and structures used within innovative roof terrace systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate, high-quality fabrications to drawings and specifications, with a strong focus on weld quality, presentation and attention to detail.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced fabricator who takes pride in their workmanship and wants to join a business where quality, innovation and continuous improvement are at the heart of what they do.

The Role
As a MIG Welder / Fabricator, you will be responsible for:

  • MIG welding and fabricating metal components and assemblies.
  • Working primarily with stainless steel and aluminium.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering and fabrication drawings.
  • Measuring, marking out, cutting and preparing materials.
  • Setting up and operating MIG  welding equipment safely and effectively.
  • Producing clean, accurate and consistent welds to a high standard.
  • Carrying out fabrication, fitting and finishing work as required.
  • Checking completed work to ensure it meets required dimensions and quality standards.
  • Working from prototypes, drawings and bespoke designs.
  • Using a range of workshop machinery and hand tools.
  • Identifying and resolving fabrication or welding issues.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.
  • Working closely with colleagues across engineering, manufacturing and design.

About You
The ideal candidate will have

  • Previous experience as a MIG Welder, Welder Fabricator or similar.
  • Strong MIG welding experience.
  • Experience working with stainless steel and/or aluminium.
  • The ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Good fabrication and fitting skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • A high standard of workmanship and pride in finished products.
  • The ability to work accurately to measurements and tolerances.
  • Good problem-solving skills and a practical approach.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team.
  • A strong understanding of workshop health and safety.

Relevant welding or fabrication qualifications would be advantageous, but practical experience, welding ability and quality of workmanship are the key requirements.

The Company
You will be joining a forward-thinking business specialising in the design and manufacture of innovative systems. The business combines engineering, design and in-house manufacturing to produce high-quality products for commercial and architectural projects.
With manufacturing carried out in-house, the role offers the opportunity to work on a varied range of products and bespoke projects, rather than repetitive production work.
