Since 2006, we've successfully delivered Welding & Fabrication apprenticeships, helping hundreds of apprentices build rewarding careers. Due to continued growth, we're looking for an experienced Welder/Fabricator to join our Academy as a Welding Instructor, delivering the Level 3 Plate Welder Apprenticeship Standard.

The Role

As a Welding Instructor, you'll play a key role in developing future engineering talent by delivering practical and classroom-based training in a supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and support the Level 3 Plate Welder Apprenticeship Standard.
  • Provide a professional and engaging onboarding experience for new apprentices.
  • Teach a range of welding and fabrication techniques, with a focus on safe working practices.
  • Assess apprentice performance and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Support apprentices throughout their learning journey, helping them build confidence and technical competence.
  • Maintain training equipment and workshop facilities to the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
  • Promote a positive learning culture that encourages excellence and continuous development.

About You

We're looking for someone with excellent practical welding experience who enjoys coaching and developing others.

You'll have:

  • Strong hands-on experience in MIG and TIG welding.
  • A solid background in fabrication and the ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
  • The ability to motivate, coach and support apprentices of varying abilities.
  • A proactive approach with the confidence to work independently and use your own initiative.
  • A genuine passion for developing the next generation of engineers.

Please note: An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. The cost will be covered by WEC Group.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Monday – Thursday: 7:30am – 4:00pm
Friday: 7:30am – 1:00pm
