We are looking for an experienced health and social care professional to lead a regional personal welfare service across Yorkshire and the North East.

You will manage and support a team of 2 Social Workers and 2 Social Work Assistants, overseeing casework and ensuring a high-quality, person-centred service for older people and individuals with disabilities.

The role combines team leadership, safeguarding, case management and service development, alongside working with clients and partner organisations across the region.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and support a team of Social Workers and Social Work Assistants
  • Oversee case allocation, case management and service performance
  • Provide supervision, appraisals, case reviews and professional support
  • Act as the regional safeguarding lead
  • Manage a small caseload where required, including assessments, advocacy, welfare benefits advice and practical support
  • Develop strong relationships with professionals and partner organisations
  • Identify opportunities to improve services, processes and outcomes
  • Represent the service at meetings, events and community activities

About you

Open to applications from experienced Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Nurses and other appropriately qualified and currently registered health and social care professionals who have managed people.

You will need:

  • Experience of leading or managing a team within a health and social care setting
  • Experience working with older people and/or people with disabilities
  • Community-based social care experience
  • Good knowledge of the welfare benefits system
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and professional judgement
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently
  • Current professional registration with the relevant regulatory body
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle

The role is based in Pontefract, with travel across Yorkshire and the North East for client visits, team meetings and events. Candidates based within the North East may be considered for a more hybrid arrangement, with at least one day per week in the Pontefract office.

DBS clearance will be required.
