Wheel Technician

GBRS are currently looking for a skilled Wheel Technician to join our client in Eastleigh’s Preparation team. You'll be responsible for diagnosing and repairing alloy wheel damage — including kerbing, scuffs, corrosion, and cracks — to ensure every vehicle leaving the branch meeting our clients quality and safety standards.
Main responsibilities:
- Inspect alloy wheels for cosmetic and structural damage (scuffs, kerb damage, corrosion, cracks, buckles)
- Carry out diamond cut, powder coat, and paint finish repairs as required
- Refurbish wheels using appropriate machinery (lathes, sandblasting equipment, spray booths)
- Assess whether a wheel is repairable or requires replacement, escalating safety-critical damage
- Record all work completed accurately, including before/after photos
- Work to agreed turnaround times to support vehicle preparation deadlines
- Maintain tools, machinery, and workspace to a safe, clean standard
- Follow health & safety procedures, including correct use of PPE and handling of chemicals/coatings
- Liaise with the Workshop Team Leader on job prioritisation and stock flow
Skills and experience
- Proven experience in alloy wheel refurbishment (diamond cutting, painting, or powder coating)
- Strong attention to detail and pride in finish quality
- Comfortable working to volume targets without compromising on standards
- Basic understanding of wheel safety standards (structural integrity, TPMS awareness)
- Full UK driving licence preferred
- Team player, reliable, and able to work independently
