EDM / WIRE EDM OPERATOR
Location: Coventry
Salary: £15-16 per hour
Hours: Monday–Thursday 6:45am–4:00pm, Friday 6:45am–11:45am
Overtime: Available as required, paid at 1⅓ weekdays and 1½ weekends
THE ROLE
We are currently recruiting for an experienced EDM / Wire EDM Operator to join a reputable engineering company specialising in bespoke EDM and Wire EDM services across the aerospace and general engineering sectors.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a small, highly skilled team of engineers where you will work closely with colleagues to produce high-quality, precision-engineered components.
The successful candidate will have strong experience within an EDM / Spark / Wire Erosion environment and be fully competent in the programming, setting and operation of EDM machinery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Programme, set and operate a range of EDM and Wire EDM machines.
- Accurately set and position components using a clock.
- Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and translate drawing requirements into accurate machine setups.
- Work to tight tolerances and demanding surface finish requirements.
- Carry out in-process and final inspection using a range of shop-floor measuring equipment.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail throughout the manufacturing process.
- Work effectively within a busy production environment and meet required deadlines.
- Maintain excellent standards of housekeeping and health & safety.
- Work collaboratively as part of a small, experienced engineering team.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience working within an EDM / Wire EDM / Spark Erosion environment.
- Strong understanding of EDM processes and machining principles.
- Competent in programming, setting and operating EDM / Wire EDM machinery.
- Good knowledge and experience of setting components using a clock.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience working to tight tolerances and surface finishes.
- Confident using a variety of shop-floor inspection and measuring equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong understanding of health & safety requirements within an engineering environment.
- Able to work effectively under pressure within a busy manufacturing environment.
- Reliable, hardworking and able to work well as part of a small team.
- 2D CAD experience would be advantageous, although training can be provided.

Experience with the following machinery would be highly beneficial:
- Agie Charmilles Fast Hole Drill
- Agie Charmilles Form 30
- Agie Charmilles Sinker EDM Machines
- ONA EDM Machines
- Sodick Wire EDM
WHAT'S ON OFFER
- Competitive salary, negotiable depending on skill level and experience.
- Monday–Thursday 6:45am–4:00pm.

- Weekdays: Time + ⅓
- Weekends: Time + ½
