WORKS MANAGER - HIGHWAYS MAINTENANCE

Rate: £500 per day Umbrella PAYE

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Works Manager to join a major highways maintenance programme in Luton.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced highways professional to take responsibility for the successful delivery of capital construction schemes, working closely with the Programme Manager, Client and wider delivery teams.
The role will involve managing operational resources, ensuring schemes are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards, with individual projects valued up to £500k.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Manage delivery resources to ensure the successful completion of capital construction projects up to £500k.
* Manage Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
* Work closely with the Programme Manager and Client to define the Annual Plan / Contractor's Plan and deliver against agreed commitments.
* Manage the delivery phase of highway schemes from commencement through to completion.
* Coordinate operational teams, subcontractors and resources to ensure effective project delivery.
* Monitor programme, quality, safety and performance throughout the delivery phase.
* Ensure works are delivered in accordance with relevant specifications, procedures and contractual requirements.
* Support effective communication and collaboration between the Client, Programme Manager, site teams and other stakeholders.
* Ensure appropriate records, reporting and project documentation are maintained.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
* Proven experience managing construction scheme operational resources.
* Experience delivering Drainage, Structures, Active Travel and Local Transport schemes.
* Experience as a New Roads and Streetworks Supervisor.
* SMSTS qualified.
* Relevant academic qualification in Construction, Civil Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline.
* Good knowledge of Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Asta and Confirm.
* Strong team-working, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proven experience working within highways maintenance or construction environments.
DESIRABLE:
* AP61 - Lift Planning experience/qualification.
