Job Role: Workshop Controller / Lead Mechanic
Location: Derby, Derbyshire
Salary: £42,000 - £52,000 per annum / Overtime Available
Hours: Monday-Friday (Flexible Hours / 8.00-17.00 / 08.30-17.30 / 09.00-18.00)
Job Type: Full time, Permanent

Due to substantial growth and development, we are now looking for a number of skilled vehicle mechanics & a workshop controller to join this well-established and rewarding organisation on a full-time permanent basis.

Duties:

  • Manage and lead a team of technicians, ensuring high standards of work and efficiency.
  • Coordinate and schedule workshop activities to meet customer demands and deadlines.
  • Monitor and maintain workshop equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Implement and uphold health and safety regulations within the workshop.
  • Provide training and support to team members, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Liaise with customers to provide updates and ensure satisfaction with services provided.
  • Carry out maintenance, service, and repair on an array of Class 4 & 7 motor vehicles.
  • Perform clutch changes, gearbox replacements, wheel alignment, engine fault finding and repair alongside general motor works.
  • Work closely with fellow mechanics and site members to ensure time frames for repairs are communicated clearly alongside quoting customers effectively.
  • Attend company training and development where necessary.
  • Work alone and as part of a team.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a vehicle mechanic working on Class 4/7 vehicles for a minimum of 3 years.
  • Relevant qualifications (Motor Vehicle repair & maintenance etc NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds) would be advantageous but NOT essential.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of workshop operations.
  • Team player and open for growth & development.
  • Ability to carry out vehicle diagnostics.
