We are recruiting on behalf of a reputable, family-run motor retail group in Gloucester for the position of Workshop Controller. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to lead a busy Service Department within a well-established franchise-approved dealership.   • Working hours: 8:00am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, with 1 in 4 Saturdays from 8:30am to 12:30pm
Duties:
  • Oversee and lead the workshop team of approximately seven technicians
  • Liaise with the Service Manager to optimise workshop efficiency and processes
  • Ensure customer requirements are fully understood and communicated effectively
  • Monitor individual and workshop productivity to meet key performance indicators
  • Manage the allocation and distribution of work based on skill levels
  • Identify training and development needs within the team as the Workshop Controller
  • Coordinate between workshop and service reception to track vehicle progress
  • Maintain workshop standards in line with health and safety regulations and brand requirements
  • Uphold customer satisfaction standards and ensure service quality and reliability
Requirements:
  • Proven experience managing an automotive workshop or similar leadership role, ideally within a franchise dealership
  • Alternatively, experienced senior Vehicle Technicians or Service Advisers with strong technical knowledge and leadership aspirations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as the Workshop Controller
  • Strong team-oriented approach with results-driven mindset
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Attention to quality and reliability standards
  • IT literacy
  • Valid UK driving licence with minimal points
