The Role

ZETEC Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Workshop Mechanic / HGV Mechanic to join an established operation based in Ellesmere Port.

This is a permanent position offering £65,000 OTE, regular overtime, call-out payments, bonuses and clear opportunities for progression.

You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing HGVs and trailers, ensuring vehicles remain safe, reliable and compliant.

Duties

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and trailers

• Diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently

• Prepare vehicles for MOT and ensure DVSA compliance

• Complete inspections and safety checks

• Attend occasional breakdown call-outs

• Travel to satellite depots in Liverpool and Sandbach when required

• Maintain accurate workshop records and defect reports

• Ensure all work is completed safely and to company standards

Overtime & Call-Out

Regular overtime is available depending on workload, typically providing an additional 5–10 hours per week.

Overtime opportunities can include:

• Early starts

• Additional hours after the standard shift

• Weekend overtime

• Breakdown and call-out work

The role also operates on an on-call rota, with enhanced payments for call-outs and a pool vehicle provided to take home when on call.

Experience & Qualifications

Required:

• Minimum 5 years' workshop experience

• Minimum 2 years' time-served experience as an HGV Mechanic

• Relevant HGV or mechanical qualifications

• Clean driving licence with no current disqualifications

• Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn

Desirable:

• Class 2 Category C licence

• Welding and fabrication experience

Candidates will need to provide their own standard hand tools. All specialist tools and equipment will be provided.

Training & Development
