Workshop Supervisor

Location: North Yorkshire

Salary: Up to £56,000 per year

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm or 7:00am–3:00pm

We are looking for an experienced Workshop Supervisor to join a busy vehicle workshop in North Yorkshire. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who enjoys leading by example while remaining actively involved in the servicing, maintenance and repair of vehicles.

Whether your background is in HGV, LCV or Light Vehicles, we are keen to hear from experienced technicians with supervisory experience who are ready to take the next step in their career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day-to-day running of the workshop, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Lead, motivate and support a team of technicians while maintaining a positive working environment.
  • Carry out servicing, repairs, diagnostics and maintenance alongside the workshop team.
  • Plan and allocate workloads to maximise productivity and minimise vehicle downtime.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with manufacturer and company standards.
  • Complete and check job cards, inspection sheets and service records.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety, housekeeping and workshop compliance.
  • Assist with ordering parts, managing stock and maintaining workshop equipment.
  • Liaise with internal departments and customers to ensure excellent service delivery.
  • Support the Workshop Manager or senior management in achieving workshop targets and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Workshop Supervisor, Chargehand, Lead Technician or Senior Technician.
  • Strong technical background in HGV, LCV or Light Vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent).
  • A hands-on approach with the ability to lead by example.
  • Experience mentoring or supervising workshop teams.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Good understanding of workshop compliance, health and safety, and industry standards.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
