Owen Daniels are supporting a highly regarded global engineering and manufacturing business, supplying advanced fluid-flow and mechanical systems into a wide range of industrial and commercial applications. With a strong reputation for technical excellence, innovation and quality, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Quality Engineer to support product quality, inspection activity and continuous improvement across their manufacturing operation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Quality Engineer with experience in mechanical or electromechanical fabrication, modular systems, pressure-related assemblies or engineered manufacturing environments, who is comfortable working across inspection, documentation, compliance and problem-solving activities within a busy production setting.

The Role
Reporting to the Quality Engineering Lead, the Quality Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and improving the quality of products delivered by the manufacturing site. 
The successful candidate will be confident working on the shop floor, supporting production teams, reviewing technical documentation, coordinating inspection and testing activity, and driving quality improvements through structured root cause analysis and corrective action.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and coordinate incoming, in-process and final inspection activities to ensure products meet defined quality standards and customer requirements
  • Carry out or support dimensional and visual checks against GA drawings, isometrics, specifications and build documentation
  • Verify key assembly requirements including bolt torque, gasket type, tagging, flow direction and build configuration
  • Support and coordinate NDT activities where required, including review of reports and close-out of findings
  • Improve inspection efficiency through the application of appropriate sampling methods, inspection planning and quality controls
  • Provide technical guidance to inspectors and production teams to ensure consistency and accuracy of inspection activities
Standards, Compliance & Documentation
  • Ensure manufactured builds conform to drawings, specifications, P&IDs, isometrics and relevant quality or regulatory standards
  • Support compliance with standards such as ISO 9001, pressure equipment and piping requirements, and other applicable customer or project specifications
  • Maintain material and device traceability, including heat number traceability, calibrated equipment control and documentation of quality records
  • Create and maintain Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), quality plans, inspection checklists, weld maps and related manufacturing quality documentation
  • Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), concessions and corrective actions, ensuring robust containment and timely close-out
  • Compile and review quality dossiers / manufacturing record packs including material certification, welding documentation, NDT reports, pressure test records, electrical test certification and FAT documentation
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead and support the site NCR / CAPA process, applying structured problem-solving tools such as 5 Whys, Ishikawa and root cause analysis
  • Analyse recurring quality issues, defect trends and first-pass yield performance to identify chronic manufacturing issues and drive sustainable improvements
  • Work with production and engineering teams to reduce rework, improve build quality and increase right-first-time performance
  • Feed manufacturability and quality improvement opportunities back into 
Collaboration & Shop Floor Support
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, Project Management and Supply Chain teams to provide clear visibility of quality status, risk and required actions
  • Coach and support shop floor personnel including fitters, welders and assembly technicians on inspection criteria, cleanliness standards, testing requirements and quality expectations
Candidate Requirements
  • Proven experience in a Quality Engineer, Manufacturing Quality Engineer or Product Quality role within a mechanical, electromechanical or engineered manufacturing environment
  • Strong practical experience of inspection, build verification and quality control within fabrication, modular systems, pressure assemblies, pipework or similar manufacturing operations
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, GA drawings, electrical schematics, data sheets and technical specifications
  • Hands-on knowledge of precision measurement, pressure testing, torque verification and basic electrical test methods
  • Experience with material traceability, weld quality documentation, NDT coordination and inspection records
  • Good understanding of ISO 9001 quality systems, NCR/CAPA processes and manufacturing documentation control
  • Strong problem-solving skills with experience using root cause analysis and corrective action tools
  • Confident communicator who is comfortable engaging with production teams, suppliers, customers and third-party inspectors
  • Practical, detail-focused and able to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
